Day 3:
So far so good. Zubin has been sleeping well and eating everything in sight. He seems to be slightly more aware of M’s absence. When we brought the little guy back from Grandma’s place, he was checking behind doors and corners to see if she would pop out.
Last night, we were playing and speaking with mom on the phone when I realized that feeding time had come and gone. The Z-unit must have read my mind, because he started with the heroine withdrawal-type whining on cue. I ran over to the fridge to get a bottle and found…that my stash was low. Zubin’s nanny has been preparing the bottles of formula and leaving them for us since she started and well, I got used to it. I hastily rummaged around some supplies. I found a can of premade formula behind a giant tub of powder. Score! No mixing. I then turned to look for the bottle to serve it up to the little man. I thought I was in real trouble when I found a collection of ol’ dirty bottles and nipples in the sink, but I managed to excavate an unused clean bottle from the back of the dishwasher and found a bagged for travel nipple in his stroller bag. Made it back with goods just in time to thwart the tantrum and let the magic milk lull him to sleep.
Zubin’s nanny came early this morning (phew! I was worried about the morning fix) and immediately started cleaning up bottles and loading the dishwasher with the used ones. Before I knew it, there was a row of gleaming white Avents on the shelf of the fridge. Now that the stash has been re-upped, I can relax.
