So wifey has gone on a business trip. For a week. one week. Business trip. Just wanted to make that clear. I have basically interpreted this as the supreme test of the bench strength of our parenting resource pool. The attack minded specialist (ie. me) has to step in and play the number 10 with support from the experienced backline(soccer metaphor). Also, I figure for homegirl’s pleasure and sanity, since she is on the other side of the world, I’ll put up a daily post and photo to let her know that the Z-Unit is alright (and me too).
Day 0:
After Monisha’s evening departure, Zubu and I are taking cover at my parent’s place, picture of mom and Zoo above. Things are totally manageable with Mom and Dad helping out combined with the Zooromancer’s generally relaxed attitude. Single parenting with grandparents on call = no biggie.
Key Stats:
- Crying time: 20 minutes (pre-sleep anxiety)
- Zoo misses mommy factor: Low
- I miss my wife factor: Low
- Feeding: on plan
- Sleeping: on plan
- Notables: Early morning diaper leakage, nothing serious.
Day 1:
My first day as a single parent is mix of good dad and bail out. Today is Zubin’s 9 month birthday (separate post to follow) and I’ve got him some new toys (good dad). We are at my parent’s house and he is going to spend the night and they will bring him back to my place tomorrow (bail out). He will have 2 sets of grandparents looking after him this evening while away from me. I expect nothing but excellence from our senior parenting group.
